3 Reasons Why Buying A Home Is Better Than Renting

When it comes to choosing between renting a home and purchasing a home of your own, some people feel that they have a difficult decision to make. While both can be good depending on your situation, the are so many reasons why buying a home is better than renting one. This article is going to discuss 3 reasons why you should consider purchasing a home instead of just renting one.

Your Money Is Actually Going Somewhere

When you are renting a home, you are technically going to be throwing away your money every single month. Your money is not being invested into something long term, like it would be if you instead chose to purchase a home and pay on the mortgage each month. Investing in a home is likely going to be a much smarter way to spend your money, especially if you are planning on staying in an area long term.

You Have More Freedom

Another great reason why buying a home is going to be better than renting is the fact that you are going to have a lot more freedom. You aren't going to be tied down to what the landlord tells you, and can instead make your own decisions. Some examples include: being able to paint or decorate however you would like, getting a pet if you want one, doing whatever you want with the landscaping, and more. These freedoms are going to make living in your house more enjoyable and are most definitely going to help make it feel more like home.

It Is More Permanent

When you are renting a home, you feel like it is something that is very temporary. You always have it in the back of your mind that your lease is up in X amount of months, and at this time you will need to decide whether you would like to renew your lease to continue renting or if you would like to move again. In contrast, when you purchase a home, it is going to actually feel like "home" for you. There will be no lease, and you will simply own the home for as long as you'd like. This feeling of permanence can help you to feel more comfortable in your home and can build in you a desire to actually make the home your own and plant deeper roots in the area that you are at.

Consider all of these things before you decide if you want to rent or buy a house.

About Me

Real Estate Crash Course: The Fundamentals

After inheriting my house from a deceased loved one, I had no idea what it was like to go through the home sales and purchase process. When a medical emergency necessitated selling and moving somewhere else, I was in over my head. Luckily, I worked with a great real estate agent who helped me understand the entire process, from listing to inspection and closing. I created this site to share my experiences and knowledge. Whether you're buying or selling a family home like I did, I hope that it helps you as you venture into your first real estate transaction.
